Lustrum Song

Monday’s lecture’s killing me
Tuesday, I went to an activity
Wednesday my empty throat is so thirsty
Thursday morning dreamt of beer
Went to the Japie room got a coffee
At four o’clock, the F.O.R.T.’s waiting for me

Japies come and get around
Let us all make some sound
Join us now and we’ll be loud

Japie say hey (hey)
Japie say oh (oh)
Shine bright, bond tight, Japie let’s go!

The lustrum year has just begun
Stratum greets me with a song
Japie is here, let’s have a beer
The celebration starts today
Japie’s birthday, hurray!
Join us this brilliant year

Japies come and get around
Let us all make some sound
Join us now and we’ll be loud

Japie say hey (hey)
Japie say oh (oh)
Shine bright, bond tight, Japie let’s go!

Japie say hey (hey)
Japie say oh (oh)
Shine bright, bond tight, Japie let’s go!

For our lustrum song, we wanted something that described a normal week. We all enjoy being part of Japie, and the bonding that comes with it. Besides this, we wanted something fun, and something a bit more upbeat. After some hard work, with the most musically talented committee ever, we created this song. We hope you like it as much as we do.

One of the ideas during the first meeting, was creating a lustrum song. After a few weeks, the idea picked up momentum. We organized a writing session with our committee, and a draft came from it. Ornella even created a melody already on her ukulele! After this, we changed part of the text to make it extra special. Bram Fliervoet said that he wanted to help us with the beat and the recording, which we are very thankful for. So, after we had the text and the music, we were ready to record the song. After (a lot of) editing, the song was born.

We want to thank Bram Fliervoet, Abaro on Spotify, for helping us make this song.
